Beta testing experiences
Hi,
I'm one of the 10 lucky beta-testers and was able to play around with the Pokit yesterday. My first impression is very good. The Pokit is even smaller than I expected. The iOS app is working fine and connects easily to the Pokit, both on my iPad as on my iPhone.
I ran some tests on some components and a little setup I made with an ESP32. I hope to be doing some more testing the coming weeks, but my first impression is really good! Thanks for the hard work Pokit-team.
Here is the list of findings I discussed with the Pokit-team last night which will hopefully be taken care of in future releases of the Apps (and/or hardware):
Hardware
==
* Request: make adapter for the probes to breadboard style pins for easy integration in breadboard setups
Multimeter
==
* Add fixed measurement ranges, be able set the measuring range to fixed scale or auto
* make the selection wheel "click" and don't let it continue scrolling (where it ends up on a setting you did not intend)
* diode:
* make an image with black and red clip and diode to show the orientation of the diode
* add voltage drop to image
* why does it not work on a LED (with a higher voltage drop)? _(A: the measurements are done with 1,5V, with is lower than the voltage drop of a LED. This might be changed in future hardware)_
* connection test (continuity test)
* why 160 𝛀 range? Why 166,x 𝛀 with open circuit? _(A: it's a bug that will be fixed so it shows "INF")_
* Custom setting for threshold for beeping
Oscilloscope
==
* show timestamps on X-axis (or measurement count with timerange in top)
* how do you save data? _(A: in the list of measurement intervals, slide to the left :-) )_
* how do you export data? CSV to mail or dropbox or ... _(A: in the list of measurement intervals, slide to the left :-) )_
* buttons for prev/next measurement value
* add little dots to the measurements (with preference setting to turn on/off)
* how many samples are kept (1000?) _(A: yes!)_
* continuous mode? _(A: due to BLE not really possible without draining batteries)_
* rising trigger (through GND?), custom trigger value (1->0 or 0->1 for instance?) _(A: you can slide the trigger value on the trigger word in the graph, will be enhanced to make it more intuitive)_
Data-logger
==
* add 1,2,5,10,20,50,100,200,500 ms intervals
* how come there are intermediate values measured while the oscilloscpoe shows immediate transition from VCC to GND _(A: the datalogger does multiple measurements quickly after another and averages the values)_
* buttons for prev/next measurement value
* add little dots to the measurements (with button to turn on/off)
* how many samples are kept? _(A: up to 8000)_
General
==
* make the App multi-pokit capable (2 or more pokits in the same display) (A: is on the roadmap)
* show given name in welcome screen and device list _(A: seems to be a bug in the iOS bluetooth handling)_
* power drain iPhone, just because display is on??? _(A: most likely the drain is from having the display on, will be looked at)_

I guess it could help the Pokit team if other people can comment on these suggestions to get an impression what would be most useful to people, so feel free to comment...
