We’re very excited to share some great news: we’ve resolved the manufacturing issues that have been holding us back, and Pokit Clamp is now moving into general assembly.
This is a major milestone and one we’ve been working incredibly hard to reach. The past few months have brought some unexpected manufacturing challenges, but we’re thrilled to have overcome them and to see production moving forward again.
There’s still work ahead as we move through assembly and towards fulfilment, but this is the breakthrough we’ve been waiting for, and a huge step closer to getting Pokit Clamp into your hands.
General Assembly Begins August 20
All final components are now in production, and general assembly is scheduled to begin on August 20.
We’ll begin with a few hundred units and progressively scale production week by week. This controlled ramp allows us to closely monitor assembly, calibration, testing and quality as volumes increase.
As with any new production line, there may still be some challenges as we scale. But after everything we’ve learned and resolved, we’re confident in the processes we’ve put in place and our ability to keep production moving forward.
How We Solved the Core Problem
In our last update, we explained that the precision magnetic cores inside Pokit Clamp had become the major roadblock to production.
Our new manufacturing partner successfully resolved the original dimensional consistency issue. During this work, we identified a second challenge: stresses introduced during production could cause the protective overmoulding to crack. Because the overmoulding forms part of Pokit Clamp’s electrical insulation and safety system, it was essential that we resolved this properly.
The solution was to move to a more ductile overmoulding material that can accommodate these stresses without cracking. After several rounds of manufacturing, testing and refinement, the updated process is now producing successful parts.
We’re now completing the recharacterisation of the new cores to ensure our measurement and calibration processes are precisely tuned for production.
Each manufacturing and validation cycle takes several weeks, so getting here has taken longer than we originally anticipated. But the result is a robust solution that meets our requirements and, most importantly, clears the major obstacle that has been holding back production.
The New Pokit App Is Almost Here
There's more good news on the software side.
The next-generation Pokit App is nearing the end of beta, and we're currently targeting a public release in early September, subject to final testing and bug fixes.
The new app will be required to connect to Pokit Clamp, but it’s much more than just Clamp support. We’ve completely rebuilt the platform with a new UI and a new foundation designed to support the next generation of Pokit features and devices.
It’s a major step forward for the Pokit experience, and we can’t wait to get it into your hands.
