We won’t compromise on safety

The Pokit Innovations team have been hard at work, striving to overcome an unexpected hurdle. We wanted to share with our supporters what’s been going down in the Pokit lab, how we came to a solution, and how that will affect our timeline.

At Pokit Innovations, the safety and quality of our products is paramount. That’s why we conduct our own rigorous inhouse verification and testing prior to sending units for external certification. During this process with Pokit Pro, we discovered a scenario that could cause a potential safety issue. Whilst the occurrence of the issue is extremely unlikely, we were not prepared to take any chances.

We care about safety and are dedicated to solving this issue. To do this we’ve had to update the design of Pokit Pro and pause production while we work on this. This snag has affected our timeline by approximately 6 weeks and it is looking like we will start shipping our first batch of units in November. But now for the good news…

We have a solution!

Our team sees this as a great opportunity make Pokit Pro even better than before. We have improved the device’s safety by adding a third position to the switch to make it move between 1) voltage, 2) high current, and 3) all other functions. Splitting the current across two switch positions has also meant adding a second fuse to the device. Further, we have relocated the position of the switch from the front of the device to the side for improved usability.

This means that the Pokit Pro you’ll receive will be more robust, functional, and safe. While we were at it, we were also able to make it more accurate than originally anticipated.

Currently, we have the PCB layout completed with the new design changes, and we are in the process of getting another set of prototypes made for final testing. Let’s go team!
